Platon Lebedev Continues His Fight For Freedom

December 4, 2013

Platon Lebedev’s defence team has filed an appeal to Russia’s Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of all previously handed down decisions denying him release on parole.

Lebedev’s lawyer Vladimir Krasnov commented:

During our latest meeting with Platon Lebedev, on November 29, the day of his birthday, I passed on congratulations and best wishes from many people, including messages from the Khodorkovsky and Lebedev Communication Centre in Russia. Platon Leonidovich asked me to express his enormous appreciation. We also discussed a number of current and emerging issues. Platon Lebedev has always fought for lawlessness to be, first, officially recognised, and then, eradicated. Therefore, today we have handed an appeal to the Supreme Court demanding the cancellation of all previously handed down decisions denying Lebedev parole. The reason for this is not only that he was denied parole despite his eligibility under the law. It is also a matter of principle for Platon Lebedev – today, thousands of people in Russia find themselves in a  similar situation. Platon Lebedev is not just waiting for his freedom; he will continue to fight for it.”
