Russia recently adopted amendments to its education law. What do they mean? Are they designed to help the state protect people from fake news or to get rid of smart and educated?

Russian officials are known for their nonsense speeches often shown directly on state TV. They could be easily fired but it’s not happening. Instead the state is creating paranoid laws which make access to education much more difficult.
