Guriev: No Legitimacy In Khodorkovsky Case

September 10, 2013

Russian news agency Slon.ru has published an interview with Sergei Guriev, the economist and former Rector on the New Economic School in Russia. Guriev left Russia earlier this year in the wake of interrogations by the Investigative Committee regarding the Khodorkovsky case.

Guriev spoke about how the case has affected his life, his current life as an émigré in Paris, and his plans, expectations and regrets. He said:

I feel guilty before my colleagues that I have left behind. I dropped everything and left because the situation was, and still is, very dangerous for me.

I did not have any illusions. Khodorkovsky has been in prison for ten years, and I have read the ‘second Yukos case’ – there is nothing legitimate in it. I know that for sure.”
