MBK for TV Rain: Putin is losing support
In April Mikhail Khodorkovsky gave an interview to Russian TV Rain. Talking to TV Rain editor in chief Tikhon Dzyadko, Mr. Khodorkovsky said:
“We are seeing such inadequacy from the current authorities. For the last 20 years, the world has progressed to god knows what levels, yet our current authorities have remained in power for these twenty years, and have kept this country in the distant past. This country isn’t even 20 years behind the times, more like 35-40 years behind. As soon as this [Coronavirus] crisis came about and first emerged, this inadequacy was immediately exposed, and exists at every step the state makes. Look, the president is now addressing the nation for the third time. Third time! He has said nothing in response to people’s worries and concerns. Moreover he hasn’t taken any responsibility. (…) People were expecting Putin to play the role of the saviour in this challenging scenario. To put it mildly, he didn’t execute this role.”
