Prosecutor General Criticizes Expertise on the Second Yukos Trial

On 5th March 2012, the Russian President ordered the Prosecutor General’s office to examine the validity of the expert recommendations made on the Khodorkovsky and Lebedev case (the ‘second Yukos case’).
Today, in an interview to the Russian newspaper Kommersant, the Prosecutor General, Yuri Chaika, stated “we (at the Prosecutor’s Office) believe that any conclusions, based on a limited, shallow and non-procedural study of documents cannot be the basis for revision of the court’s judgement.” Chaika added that the Prosecution’s position on the Khodorkovsky and Lebedev case had already been expressed multiple times during numerous trials. He also noted that this does not prevent the defence team from challenging the court’s ruling.
