Andrey Pivovarov released on bail
Andrey Pivovarov, head of the Democratic Coalition election campaign headquarters in Kostroma, has been released from detention on one million roubles bail, reports Open Russia coordinator Polina Nemirovskaya on Twitter.
At hearings on 25 September, the Sverdlov District Court of Kostroma did not find grounds for continuing to hold the accused in detention. That being said, Andrey Pivovarov will be released only on Monday, 28 September, after direct payment of the bail.
Earlier, Pivovarov had had one of the charges against him lifted — for incitement to exceed official authority. Besides this, he is being charged with giving a bribe to an employee of the police and with unlawful access to computer information.
In the meantime, in the words of PARNAS party press secretary Vadim Sukhodolsky, “There was an expert examination, which revealed that there was no corpus delicti in Pivovarov’s actions, and therefore we consider that the bribery charge is an attempt to prolong his arrest, because the case is falling apart on the other charges.”
Open Russia lawyers are actively engaged in Andrey Pivovarov’s defence.
