Lebedev’s Defence: “Moscow Court Decisions Must Be Unconditionally Cancelled”

October 2, 2013

Platon Lebedev’s defence lawyer Vladimir Krasnov has filed an appeal to the Judicial Collegium for Criminal Cases of the Supreme Court against the Moscow City Court Decisions not to review the verdict handed down to his client.

The decision by Krasnov follows the attempt by Russia’s Human Rights Ombudsman Vladimir Lukin to have the  Moscow’s Meschansky Court verdict against Khodorkovsky and Lebedev reconsidered by the Moscow City Court, following earlier decisions by the Moscow City Court to reject a review of the 2005 Meschansky Court verdict.  Lukin, the Human Rights Ombudsman, had found a particular part of the 2005 verdict concerning civil action by Russia’s Federal Tax Service against Khodorkovsky and Lebedev to be illegal.

Krasnov, said that his client had asked him to express his gratitude to Lukin for his unstinting efforts to require Russia’s court proceedings to follow truly legal practices.
