More than a thousand people have already been detained across Russia in connection with Sunday’s anti-corruption demonstrations. Such an enormous crackdown on political dissent has never been seen before, and Open Russia’s current legal capacity is completely overwhelmed.

The fundamental problem at the moment is in the Russian regions, where those who have been arrested will be held in significantly worse conditions. Among those currently detained are a number of underage schoolchildren, and it’s vital that we get support to them as soon as possible.

We have lawyers, and we have the methods to provide support where necessary, but we need your help to raise funds in order to make sure the support gets to where it is needed most as quickly as possible.
