Khodorkovsky’s Mother Fears Her Son Will Not Win Early Release

May 2, 2012

Mikhail Khodorkovsky’s mother, Marina Khodorkovskaya doubts that political detainees will win an early release from prison reports Interfax.

In her Ekho Moskvy blog, she wrote “One can let Natalya Morar into the country, one can discuss 500-member parties. All these are vain efforts. But to release the so-called political detainees, I do not believe this. There is no argument for such prisoners to be released,” adding, “although I would, of course, be very glad if I am wrong,”

Of the opposition movement she writes, “the fact is that protest sentiments are too insignificant. I thought that after these disgraceful elections not 100,000 but significantly more would take to the streets. Only 25,000 came. So the protest sentiments are not very serious either.”

Khodorkovskaya has urged more people to join the opposition rallies.
