Lebedev Heads to Court August 7

July 16, 2012

According to a report published today on RIA Novosti, the Arkhangelsk Regional District Court will hear an application by Platon Lebedev requesting a reduction in his sentence on August 7.

Earlier, the court returned the attorneys’ appeals, citing the absence of a number of documents – particularly, the sentence issued by the Moscow Meshchansky District Court.

Lebedev is currently serving a 14-year sentence that was handed down in December 2010 following a highly controversial second trial which led to Amnesty International declaring him and Mikhail Khodorkovsky as prisoners of conscience.
