Lukoil Head Alekperov Says Khodorkovsky’s Sentence Was Too Harsh

Lukoil president, Vagit Alexperov told Vladimir Pozner’s TV Show on Channel One Russia in an interview on Monday that former Yukos head Mikhail Khodhorkovsky is long overdue for parole according to Prime News.

Alexperov said, “I have a lot of sympathy for Khodorkovsky, and I think that the sentence was too harsh.” However, he was unwilling to discussed the fairness of Khodorkovsky’s sentence without better information regarding the details of the case. Pozner reminded his audience that Alexperov, along with many Russian businessmen, originally refused to comment on Khodorkovsky’s case in 2005.
