Preliminary Hearing for Former Yukos Manager Set for April 24

April 23, 2012

The tax evasion cases of former Yukos manager Alexei Spirichev is scheduled to be heard by the Zamoskvoretsky District Court on April 24 according to RAPSI.

Investigators from the Prosecutor General’s Office allege that Spirichev, under the guidance of Mikhail Khodorkovsky and Platon Lebedev, faked documents in order to receive tax benefits for sever Yuko-controlled companies between 1998 and 2001.

Spirichev has been on the international wanted list since 2004, and the court has issued his arrest warrant in absentia. Western governments, who have criticized overly harsh sentences on former Yukos bosses Khodorkovsky and Lebedev, have not assisted Russia in bringing Spirichev to justice.
